43.3% of Albanians are not informed about how members of the municipal council are elected when they vote in local elections.
Asked by Barometer in Euronews Albania, 20.6% of them think that in local elections there is only one vote, that is for the mayor. While 22.7% are not aware of how many ballots there are in the local elections.
Only 56.7% of Albanians know that in local elections there are two ballots, one for the mayor and one for the members of the municipal council.
Women are less informed about municipal council voting. Of those who are poorly informed, 22.2% are women and 19.2% are men, while when we look at it according to age groups, it is the 45-54 age group who answered incorrectly saying that there is only one ballot with 25.8%.
The 65-75 age group occupies 22.7%, followed by 35-44 years with 22.3%, 55-64 years with 19.6%, 25-34 years with 17.6%, and 18-24 years with 16.2%.
More than half of Albanians are not informed that the head of the administrative unit is appointed by the Mayor. When asked this question, 51.7% answered incorrectly, saying that it is elected by vote, 18.1% answered that they do not know, and only 30.2% know that it is appointed by the mayor.
