‘Happy to be in Albania’, Macron: Solidarity for the integration of the Western Balkans

The French President, Emmanuel Macron, has arrived in Tirana within the framework of the European Union summit with countries of the Western Balkans.

Macron was received by Prime Minister Edi Rama which was followed by a press statement.

During his remarks, he said that he felt very happy to have come to Albania. The French President also underlined that the war in Ukraine, the integration of the Western Balkans into the European Union, as well as energy, will be among the issues that will be discussed.

Among other things, Macron emphasized that we should work for solidarity within the EU, regarding the European integration of the Western Balkan countries.

“Discussions will also focus on the war in Ukraine as it is a security issue for the entire region. We have been working since February, March, but I am very happy that today I am here in Albania. I want to thank Prime Minister Edi Rama for this summit between the EU and the Western Balkans at a very important moment for us within the framework of the Czech presidency. We have concrete projects to discuss, it is also important that there is solidarity between the EU and the Western Balkans in terms of energy and the process of integrating the Balkans into the European Union. It is important to work towards further solidarity and further deepening of the political agenda”, he emphasized.
