The State Police has announced the arrest of 31-year-old Gert Shehu, who yesterday afternoon was seen punching the head of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, in the face.
According to the police, Shehu is placed under arrest on two charges: assault against a high official/ member of parliament and intentional battery.
Police Notice:
“The special structures of the Judicial Police of the State Police, in cooperation with the specialists of the Section for the Investigation of Crimes against Life, of the DVP Tirana, and with the services of Police Station No. 1, after carrying out a series of investigative and procedural actions, under the direction of the Prosecutor’s Office at the Tirana Judicial District Court, for the event that occurred on 06.12.2022, the citizen was arrested: Gert Shehu, 31 years old, resident of Tirana, for assault due to a high official’s duty and intentional battery. From the investigative actions, it turned out that this citizen punched MP Sali Berisha in the face, causing physical injuries, while he was walking on Jean D’Arc boulevard, in the direction of the place where a pre-announced protest was going to commence. The materials were forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Tirana Judicial District Court for further processing”.
