The price crisis has impoverished Albanians, Barometer finds

Euronews Albania’s Barometer confirms the deterioration of the economic situation of families due to the increase in prices even in the last two months.

53.4% ​​of Albanians indicate that the economic situation in their families in November 2022 has worsened. 39.2% of them are neutral and only 7.4% of them are experiencing better economic conditions.

The situation has only worsened compared to the month of September, when 51% of Albanians stated that their family’s economy had worsened in the month of September 2022, i.e. 2.4% less than in the month of October. While for the month of September, 36% were neutral, 3.2% less than in October, and 12.8% said that their economic situation is better, 5.4% more than in October.

Compared to a year ago, 63% of Albanians indicated that the economic situation in their families is worse than before. 35.8% stated that the economic situation in their families compared to a year ago is neutral and only 1.2% have a better economic situation than a year ago.

The rise in prices has not only affected the poor. Of those who said that their economic situation is worse than a year ago, 78.9% have a low income, 70.8% have an average income, 51.8% have an average high income and 45.5% are with high income.

The most affected by the increase in prices are the rural areas at 68.2%, while the urban areas are not far behind with 9.3% less, respectively 58.9%.
