The NATO mission in Kosovo, KFOR, said that the only way to achieve lasting peace between Prishtina and Belgrade is for the parties to resolve their issues “through dialogue and reach a solution that respects the rights of all communities.”
“It is important to avoid any new escalation and resolve issues peacefully, as violence has no place in the region. KFOR continues to be extremely alert and fully capable of fulfilling its mandate derived from the United Nations”, it was said in the announcement of this NATO mission.
Tensions in the north of Kosovo, inhabited by a majority of ethnic Serbs, have increased since December 6, as several armed incidents have been recorded.
