The Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance, Arlind Gjokutaj, and two directors of this same institution, Alban Ruli and Fatmir Hoxha, have been arrested on charges of abuse of power.

The arrests come after investigations against citizen Ilir Thana who was accused of fraud, meanwhile, the investigations had also started for the officials of the Enforcement Office and the Ministry of Finance who, through their actions taken in violation of the law, are accused of causing severe damage to the state budget reported to reach up to 1.2 million euros.

The allegations concern a decision made by them back in September 2022, when they decided to compensate a citizen for a building that had been compensated earlier.

The sum of 480 million ALL that was transferred to Ilir Thana is now being considered a flagrant theft of the State Budget.
