The court has left in force the measure of Arrest in Prison for the Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance, Arlind Gjokutaj and the two directors Fatmir Hoxhaj and Alban Ruli.
The three officials of the Ministry of Finance are accused of damaging the state budget, reported to reach around €1.2 million euros.
They did this back in September 2022 when they decided to compensate a citizen for a building that had already been compensated earlier and at a much lower rate.
The sum transferred to citizen Ilir Thana is considered a direct theft of the State Budget.
However, the defendants have not accepted the charges, as their lawyers and 2 of the defendants who were present in today’s court hearing pleaded innocent to the charge of ‘abuse of power’.
