The Institute of Public Health (ISHP) has confirmed the presence of the RSV virus in our country.

Children are more affected by this viral infection, which causes problems in the respiratory tract.

This virus can range from mild infection to pneumonia.

The circulation of viruses during this period has created an influx in the emergency unit of Pediatrics and QSUT.

“My son is inside, he is sick, 13 years old. With nausea. A little high fever” said a citizen.

“We are afraid, but there’s nothing we can do, hospital conditions here aren’t the best,” said another.

The clinical signs between winter season viruses and subvariants of COVID-19 are similar, so doctors’ appeal to citizens is to be attentive to the first symptoms and consult with their family doctors and other medical specialists.

Epidemiologists warn that the last two weeks of January will mark the peak of this virological period.
