The Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, held a press conference this Thursday, where he informed citizens about the state of floods in the country and the possible dangers from the heavy rains that are expected during the following hours.

Minister Pelesh also said that Vjosa is very close to critical levels, while he also reported increased flooding in the Shkodra area.

“Heavy rains are expected in the country. The Vjosa River is close to critical levels. There is an increase in floods in the areas of Shkodra”, said Peleshi.

The Minister of Defense mentioned some of the problematic areas that are also at risk of flooding, or that are already underwater.

“At the Ura e Varur, this river’s level is in normal quotas. Drin River in Shkoder is also exhibiting a normal quota. The level of Shkodra lake is half a meter from the critical quota. Buna river has overtopped its banks. In Lezha, we had flooding in several streets around the city”, he said.
