Today marks the 25th anniversary of Serbia’s second attack on the Jashari family in Prekaz.

On January 22, 1998, in the early hours of the morning, from the Hunting Ammunition Factory, about 500 meters from the houses of the Jashari neighborhood, Serbian police forces moved towards the Jasharaj Tower to attack it with different types of weapons.

Since Adem Jashari was not at home that night, Shabani and Hamza, with their nephews and nieces, resisted the Serbian police attack.

After several hours of fighting and resistance, the invading forces were forced to retreat, just as they retreated in the first attack, writes KosovaPress.

Selvete Jashari, Hamza’s daughter, was injured during the attack. The attacks on the Jashari family would not stop.

Serbia’s third attack on the Jashari family took place on March 5, 1998. After a war that lasted three days, 59 members of the Jashari family, including the legendary KLA commander, Adem Jashari, had fallen heroically.
