The head of the Parliamentary Group of the Socialist Party, Taulant Balla, declared this Thursday that no Albanian official is involved in the investigation into the case of the former FBI official, Charles McGonigal.

In a statement to the press, Balla said that the file has been sent by the US prosecution to the court with only one defendant, Charles McGonigal.

He added that the opposition’s accusations are made with the only intention of diverting attention away from January 21.

“On this issue, I gave a speech today in parliament where I explained our position. Neither the prime minister nor any minister is involved in this investigation. This investigation has been closed by the US authorities and the case has gone to court with only one defendant, Charles McGonigal. The prime minister received an important official such as the director of the New York FBI and counterintelligence, who was presented with his position card. Neither the prime minister nor any minister of the Albanian state is part of this file. This official has also met other officials in other countries such as Germany and Austria, but what happened here did not happen in these countries. This is just an attempt to divert the public’s attention away from January 21,’ said Balla.
