The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhacka, delivered her speech at the UN General Assembly. Among other things, she stated that Albania supports the resolution for peace in Ukraine.

“It was an unprovoked, illegal, criminal invasion of a country. It was above all an act of attack that clearly violated the UN Charter and international law,” said the minister.

Xhacka also said that at a time when most of the world expected the invasion to succeed in a few days, the Ukrainian army showed its strength in the face of the weak Russian army.

“We believe that this Assembly should vote in support of this resolution and make clear its support for a just peace in Ukraine in accordance with the principles of the UN Charter, which should guarantee sovereignty, independence, unity and integrity territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders, which lie in its territorial waters,” Xhacka declared.
