The Minister of Economy and Finance Delina Ibrahimaj declared this Wednesday that as of April 1, the minimum wage in the Republic of Albania will be 40 000 ALL.
During a statement for the press at the end of today’s government meeting, Ibrahimaj said that all private businesses, as well as the public sector, will be obliged to respect the new minimum wage set by the government.
According to her, this increase is at the level of 17.6% in relation to the salary of 34,000 ALL that was in the market.
“Today, the decision was taken in the Council of Ministers to determine the minimum wage. Based on the decision, the minimum wage goes from one level to 34 thousand ALL, which is currently at the level of 40 thousand ALL. Over the past year, there has been an increase in salaries, where during the 9 months of 2022 the average salaries in the private sector have increased by 12.3%. The increase that was approved is 6 000 ALL gross and is 17.6% higher than the salary in the market. This salary will be attributed to both the private and public sectors. Every employee and employer will be obliged to implement the minimum wage decision from April 1. This increase will be reflected in the salary they receive in May.”
