Two consecutive earthquakes hit Albania on Tuesday afternoon.
Seismologists consider these earthquakes moderate and powerless thus not causing any significant damage.
“Yesterday’s earthquake had a magnitude of 4.1 on the Richter scale, located near the town of Belshi, it is considered moderate, it does not cause damage”, said Damiano Koxhaj, seismologist.
According to experts in the field, this area has been known for years for earthquakes with magnitudes of this particular type.
“The southern area is more active than the rest of the territory, in this area we had in 2011, earthquakes with a 4 magnitude in 2017, in 2018, in 2021, in 2020, so it is an area that has historically been active and magnitude 4 is normal “, he said.
Seismologists, referring to the aftershocks, are of the opinion that the seismic activity in the Belshi area will subside.
