Like Korça, Durrës will also have a new stadium. Three studios from Denmark, Belgium and Netherlands presented their projects in the final stage of the competition for the construction of the “Niko Dovana” stadium.

To Prime Minister Edi Rama, the construction of a new stadium will be a good possibility for the city.

“I want to assure all citizens of Durrës that we are very determined to do much more for the city. Durrësi is at a fantastic moment, in a great turning point, I believe like the entirety of Albania, but Durrës has a future which is ever closer,” the Prime Minister said.

An agreement reached a few days ago with the Manchester City football club will turn Durrës in a football academy for the entire region.

“We have the exclusivity to become a center for all the region and beyond. It will be a destination of talents from all over the region. If it becomes a second academy in the Balkans, the Durrës Municipality will be a partner,” Rama declared.
