Local elections, 15 women running for mayor

Out of 143 candidates for mayor, only 15 of them are women. 8 candidates are from the Socialist Party, 3 from the Democratic Party and 3 from the ‘Together We Win’ coalition, as well as 1 from the ‘PDIU’.

In the local elections on May 14, 143 candidates for mayor will compete in the country’s 61 municipalities, of which 15 women will compete in 15 of them.

The Socialist Party competes in these elections with 8 women candidates in the municipalities:

Municipality of Kurbin – Majlinda Cara

Municipality of Klos – Valbona Kola

Municipality of Bulqizë – Festime Mjeshtri

Municipality of Dimal – Juliana Mema

Municipality of Durres – Emirjana Sako

Municipality of Permet – Alma Hoxha

Municipality of Lushnje – Eriselda Sefa

Municipality of Roskovec – Majlinda Bufi

While the Democratic Party has only 3 women in these elections who are running as it follows:

Municipality of Patos – Pranvera Rizai

Municipality of Fier – Eriselda Zotaj Çelaj

Municipality of Vau i Deja – Klomentina Drini

The Together We Win coalition also comes to these elections with candidate women:

Municipality of Prrenjas – Suzana Topi

Municipality of Korce – Ledina Alolli

Municipality of Patos – Sofie Alushaj

From the Party for Justice, Integration and Unity, Lajla Përnaska is running for the municipality of Tirana.
