The Assembly of the Serbian Orthodox Church stated today that any recognition, indirect or direct, of Kosovo’s independence would be in direct contradiction to international law, the UN Charter and other acts and principles.

Further, its representatives claimed that the Serbs decided to leave Kosovo’s institutions “after dozens of attacks on them and their homes”.

Also it was added that their return will only take place when the Association of Municipalities with a Serbian Majority is established.

“Our Church in Kosovo needs much more active international protection against the discriminatory behavior of Kosovo’s institutions”, concludes the statement of the Assembly of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
