The Basic Court in Pristina has announced this Wednesday, May 31, that a one-month detention measure has been imposed for two protesters arrested during the clashes in Zveçan two days ago.

They were allegedly part of the fight between protesters and law enforcement on May 29 in the Municipality of Zveçan. That day, around 30 KFOR soldiers were injured during the attempts to disperse the protesters.

They are also suspected of committing the criminal offenses “Association for anti-constitutional activity with the aim of attacking the constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo”, “endangering persons under international protection” and “attacking an official person”, among others.

Against this ruling, they have the right to appeal to the Court of Appeal, through the Basic Court in Pristina.

Protests in these municipalities in northern Kosovo, areas with a Serb majority, began on May 26, when groups of local Serbs gathered in front of municipal buildings to protest against the entry of the new Albanian mayors of Zveçan, Zubin Potok and Leposaviq.
