Once it was a forbidden area, while today it has become a destination, not only cultural thanks to the fortress of Ali Pasha Tepelena, but for vacationers who want to go to the beach in the bays that this area carries.

It is about Porto Palermo, which is located between Himarë and Qeparo. With small, public bays where anyone can pitch their tent, day-trippers abound.

“It’s good here, we like it, you can rest freely, no problem. You can stay as long as you want, it is a good choice for those who want to stay on the beach freely. Nature is good, clean, good sea. We need a hand from the state, but from year to year there are changes, the road has been unpaved for years, this year it is paved. We live in Germany, we will spend 2 weeks on the coast, we will go to different places. Of course, I would encourage Albanians to come to our country, to invest, to be the first”, says a tourist.

The beauties of the Porto Palermo beach make passers-by change their destination and stop to enjoy the sea and the tranquility that this area offers. A good part of them are foreign tourists, who prefer public beaches.

This tourist season, Porto Palermo has been the choice of thousands of Albanian and foreign vacationers, where culture, the 200-year history of the castle and the sea are interwoven among the alternatives, taking into account a minimal cost. Some time ago, the British daily “The Guardian” listed the beaches in Porto Palermo as one of the 40 most beautiful beaches in Europe.
