PM Kurti meets US State Department official in Estonia

Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti is in Estonia, where he held a meeting with the deputy. Acting Assistant Secretary of the US State Department, Allison Peters.

The meeting discussed Kosovo’s membership in the Partnership for Open Government and the possibilities of cooperation with American agencies, such as USAID, in the implementation of the National Action Plan for OGP, with an emphasis on the first pillar of this plan, namely digital transformation.

Speaking about Kosovo’s potential in the field of Information Technology, the prime minister emphasized that Kosovo ranks first in the Western Balkans in the IT competitiveness index, first in Emerging Europe for the number of students in the IT field – for 100 thousand inhabitants, and the second for the technological infrastructure.

In this meeting, he was accompanied by the Kosovo ambassador to Estonia, Shkëndije Geci Sherifi, the Minister of Local Government Administration, Elbert Krasniqi and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Kreshnik Ahmeti.

Meanwhile, alongside the Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of the US State Department, Peters, there was also the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau for Cyberspace and Digital Policy of the State Department, at the same time the former US Deputy Ambassador to Kosovo, Jennifer Bachus.
