North Macedonia has imposed a new set of measures in the past days, including making masks mandatory on all public spaces.

Even though a lot of citizens are complying with the new measure, many more seem to oppose it.

Some of the people we interviewed said that the restrictive measures will serve to discipline citizens, while others believe that it is “non-sense” as masks shouldn’t be mandatory in rural or mountainous areas.

“I think it’s fine, it will stop the virus. If the virus really exists there should be punishments said a citizen for Euronews Albania.

“The law has been enacted and we must abide it, but they need to review some of the details. The virus is also being used for political gains. We don’t need fines, but people should decide what to do themselves”, said another citizen.

In the last three days, law enforcement authorities have fined over 4.000 citizens.

In the past week, the country has recorded over 3.200 new cases and 48 victims.
