The Council of Ministers in Bosnia and Herzegovina has unanimously given approval to the “decision allowing the entry into Bosnia and Herzegovina, under special conditions, for Palestinian citizens whose relatives hold Bosnian and Herzegovinian citizenship”, as stated in the institution’s announcement.
As per this announcement, 30 individuals, who are close relatives of Bosnian citizens evacuated from the Gaza Strip, will be granted entry into the country.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina will submit the list of these 30 individuals to the Border Police, which includes not only personal details but also information about their Bosnian citizen relatives. Their entry will be facilitated through Sarajevo International Airport,” stated the release.
Earlier, authorities disclosed that Qatar had provided an aircraft for the transportation of Bosnian citizens and their evacuated relatives from the Gaza Strip. Qatar will also cover their flight expenses from Egypt to Bosnia.
The Council of Ministers had not reached a decision on this matter the day before due to a lack of quorum.
Bosnian citizens and their relatives were evacuated from the Gaza Strip to Cairo, Egypt.
On November 18, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, announced on Facebook that Bosnia had successfully evacuated all its citizens from Gaza.
The conflict in Gaza initiated on October 7 when Hamas, recognized as a terrorist organization by the United States and the European Union, attacked the southern part of Israel, resulting in nearly 1,200 casualties and the abduction of about 240 individuals.
In response, Israel took decisive measures by encircling the Gaza Strip, home to 2.3 million Palestinians, and continuously launching attacks on the territory. Health authorities in Gaza reported that over 11,000 Palestinians have lost their lives since the commencement of the conflict.
