Cultivators of medicinal plants demand regulation and formalization of the sector. They propose direct subsidy for farmers with NIPT (Currently Taxable Person Identification Number )and audit for companies that have received funds in this sector.
Farmers who cultivate medicinal plants should be stimulated by the government. This industry, which generates about 60 million dollars a year today, has problems with unfair competition, a factor that prevents further expansion of the market.
The representative of the EPCA Association (Association of Cultivation of Eteroweek plants, producers and exporters of essences), Hysenaj, thinks that the sector will operate better if an audit is done for the companies that have benefited from funds and the farmer equipped with NIPT receives subsidies in real time.
In Albania, more than 330 types of medicinal and aromatic plants are cultivated or collected, while the market has reached the peak of exports in 1988, with 78 million dollars of benefits.
