The ambassador of the United States of America in Serbia, Christopher Hill, has reacted after the violent protests that have erupted these days in Serbia.
In a message on the X social network, he writes that: “In the coming hours and days, the leaders of Serbia and its citizens must remember: The legitimacy of democratic processes depends on transparency and the readiness of all parties, winners or losers, to respect the will of the people expressed in the ballot box”.
On the other hand, he stated that violence and vandalism against state institutions have no place in a democratic society. He calls on the police to do their best to protect citizens’ dignity and civil rights. “All citizens of Serbia have the right to be heard to express their political views in a peaceful manner and without resorting to violence,” said Ambassador Hill.
