The US Chargé d’Affaires, David Wisner, together with the Attaché for Assistance in Law Enforcement Affairs, head of ICITAP for Albania, Richard Deasy and the Resident Legal Counsel of OPDAT, met at the premises of AMP (Police Oversight Agency), the new head of this institution Florian Sulejmani.
The acting US ambassador assured the unwavering support that the US embassy offers to increase the capacities of the Police Oversight Agency in the function of law enforcement.
“Wisner emphasized the commitment to strengthening the partnership through the ICITAP and OPDAT programs, in order to prevent corruption or illegalities within the ranks of the State Police. This cooperation includes continuous and quality training of the Agency’s personnel, which aims to increase the efficiency of proactive investigations in order to combat illegality, thus meeting the public’s expectations for a police service in accordance with European standards”, it is reported in AMP’s media release.
Wisner praised the dedication and determination of the Head of the Agency in fulfilling the mission of civil, transparent and independent oversight, dealing with violations of the law and the fight against corruption. He also provided ongoing support through technical and professional assistance to specific sectors such as investigation, inspection and complaint handling.
