Prime Minister Edi Rama, together with the Minister of Tourism, Mirela Kumbaro, are participating in “FITUR 24″ in Madrid, the International Tourism Fair. The head of the government underlined during the conference dedicated to Albania that the country is ranked third in the world in terms of the growth of tourism in the world.
“It is quite important that we are here because last year we saw a significant increase in Spanish tourists in Albania. Yesterday I had to go for a physio for my back. The physiotherapist told me that two days ago, my girlfriend booked to go to Albania with her family and me, while now I’m taking care of your back. This is something that would have been impossible to imagine a few years ago when Albania was very hidden and now there are more and more requests to come and visit. We marked Tirana Airport with the highest number in Europe. Based on WTO statistics, we are the third country in terms of tourism growth in the world, after Qatar and Saudi Arabia. The third place without the World Cup and without Mecca, is a good result,” said Rama.
Meanwhile, Kumbaro emphasized that the best brand of Albania is hospitality.
“A little while ago nobody knew Albania, now it has become a destination. We do not even compete with Greece, Italy or Croatia. We are surrounded by giants of tourism, we complete the map with Albania. Hospitality that is our brand. And the good spirit,” said Kumbaro.
