Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, who was part of the extended meeting organized a day earlier by the Ministry of State for Public Administration and Anti-Corruption to assess the achievements of public administration in recent years and emphasize the need for entering a new phase of revitalization and professionalism, conveyed a message to all young people in the country.

Rama urged them to look towards the future in Albania and to engage more seriously than ever before in this new environment, showing greater motivation and dedication in their daily work, in service of the institution where they belong, and in service of the state.

“A message from the height of my white peak, for all the girls and boys I see in this room, who are not to speak about age now but who have a long way ahead. First and foremost, you, the young people here, owe it to your parents, you owe it to your grandparents, you owe it to your country, and you owe it to your state, which has recognized your merit, given you the opportunity, and continuously gives you back the dignity that others, young people like you, seek but don’t always have for insufficient reasons. You need to engage more seriously than ever in this new climate and show greater motivation and dedication in your daily work, in service of the institution where you are and in service of this state,” said Rama.

The Prime Minister said that within 10 years they would see what their grandparents or parents could not dare to dream of seeing.

“You are too late to think of leaving, and believe me, if you leave, you will realize that you have made the wrong choice. But on the other hand, you are too early not to see with great optimism what Albania can be thanks to you. Not after 100 years, but within 10 years, when you will still be in the service of the state and you will still have plenty of time to see what your grandparents, your parents, not to mention your great-grandparents, could not dare to dream of seeing. You must be sure that in the end, this world belongs to those who dare, this world belongs to those who resist, this world belongs to those who instead of finding justifications and reasons to complain and blame others, are those who, to achieve their goals, do not waste time with excuses or blaming others but only look ahead. Every setback, every failure, every fall, every undervaluation is not seen as a reason to give up and go to the café to say, ‘this country doesn’t work anymore, let’s make some money’, but they take it as one more reason to persistently continue to achieve what they have in mind,” Rama expressed.

The ongoing modernization of public administration in Albania, a necessary and continuous process closely linked to the country’s integration process into the European Union, remains one of the Government’s priorities as a key instrument for improving the quality of services to citizens and businesses and as a condition for the country’s integration processes.
