Within the framework of the commitments undertaken in connection with the National Strategy for Employment and Skills 2030, the second National Conference of Education and Vocational Training 2024 took place today with the theme “Ability to Participate in the Labor Market and Professions of the Future”.
Prime Minister Edi Rama was also present, who in his speech said that with the new funding that we have made available for professional education, as well as with another funding in June, we will cover all the need for reconstruction and retraining of schools and vocational education dormitories in the territory with optimal conditions.
Among other things, he underlined that we need to deepen the reform to lead students towards professional education, but to do this in a meaningful way we need to take the structures of professional education to another level, from a qualitative point of view and from a quantitative point of view.
“Today, 70% of the requests in Albania are for professionals or craftsmen, technical and higher education, while only 30% of the requests that the market has are for higher university education. Despite the fact that infrastructure coverage is still not guaranteed throughout the territory, 57% of those who graduate from these schools start work within 6 months and have good salaries. They don’t go to work with the minimum wage, which today is 400 euros, not 12,000 lek as it used to be,” said Rama.
“I believe that with the new funding we have made available for professional education, we will cover all the need for reconstruction and retraining of schools and boarding schools in the country with optimal conditions,” added Rama.
Taking the example of neighbouring Montenegro, Rama added that Albania aims to take the first place for tourism in the region and to use this industry to increase wages and income. But he underlined that for this to happen, the quality of the service must be increased, so that the tourists who visit the country will return.
