The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj and the Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, participated in the ceremony for the signing of a cooperation agreement between the General Directorate of the State Police and the Municipal Police, with the aim to exercise their functions in the service of order in the community, the protection of people’s health and public safety, as well as the discipline, control and implementation of road traffic rules in Tirana.
The Mayor expressed his gratitude to the State Police and Municipal Police officers, who are on the ground every day for the safety of the citizens of Tirana.
“Our mission is common! This team is the “Tirana” team, among the institutions that serve in uniform, which do a vital job for the smooth running of the city and the level of security in Tirana. We are a country where the state is a state, the city is a city, tourists are tourists, and today Albania is totally European, thanks to a model public order and security in our entire region”, said Veliaj.
He emphasized the importance of safety for pupils and students in the capital’s schools, noting the fact that today Tirana is like night and day, compared to before.
For his part, the Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, said that the agreement signed today between the General Directorate of the State Police and the Municipality of Tirana is based on the exercise of functions in the service of order in the community, the protection of people’s health, public safety in the discipline, control and enforcement of road traffic rules in the capital.
“We are here to announce a new approach of the State Police, to build an even stronger alliance with local government units. It is not without reason that Tirana is the first, not because it is the capital, but because we have found in Tirana, all the staff of the Municipality of Tirana, especially the Municipal Police, an important partner to carry out our important tasks, which we have a large part in common and today we open a new phase of the institutionalization of this cooperation. Better coordination between all law enforcement agencies is increasing our efficiency in preventing crimes in protecting the lives of citizens, guaranteeing us, as the mayor said, another level of public safety, making the capital of Tirana one of the cities with the best level of public safety. We have foreseen in this agreement, the transfer to the State Police of all information, images and videos, in real time, of the camera system located at all the intersections of the capital”, concluded Balla.
