The summit of the leaders of the Western Balkans and the European Union will be held on Thursday, May 16 in Kotor, under the slogan “One region, common vision”. During the summit, the leaders of the countries of the region, representatives of the European Union and the United States will discuss the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans.
The summit will be organized by the Prime Minister of Montenegro Milojko Spajic.
The meeting of regional leaders, which will be attended by European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Oliver Várhelyi and US Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia, James O’Brien, is scheduled for 9:30.
In addition to leaders and ministers from the countries of the region, partner organizations such as the Regional Cooperation Council, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank, the World Bank, Transport Community, Atlantic Alliance, Energy Community, Open Society Foundations, ReSPA, GIZ, senior representatives of the European Commission and others.
Also, one day before the Summit, on May 15, a meeting of the Ministers of European Affairs and Finance of the Western Balkan countries, representatives of the European Commission and partner organizations will be held.
In recent months, ministerial meetings and regional summits of Western Balkan leaders have been held in Skopje and Tirana. In these meetings, the leaders and ministers of the countries of the region and representatives of the European Union and the United States discussed the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, which includes six billion euros in grants and loans to accelerate socio-economic rapprochement with the European Union, i.e. two billion grants and four billion favorable loans guaranteed by the EU.
