The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has welcomed the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Tony Blair.
The former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, held several important meetings with the leaders of Kosovo in the framework of the 25th anniversary of its liberation.
Blair, in a speech held in the Parliament of Kosovo, said that he is proud to have fought for its liberation and has never regretted it.
He added that today more than ever he remembers all those who gave their lives for their country, and thanked all the politicians who supported him to liberate Kosovo.
“I am very happy to be here. It’s an honor and I can’t thank you enough for your hospitality. On this day, an agreement was concluded to save Kosovo from the invading forces. Kosovo was finally free.Kosovo’s people were finally able to dream again, to hope again. Today we remember more those who died to give this country freedom. We remember their sacrifice and are grateful to them and their families.
At that time I was prime minister and today it brings back many memories, the complex and anxiety of decisions in a time of war, but I remember the people more. Meeting the Kosovar refugees, listening to their stories, looking at their desperate faces for help gave me the desire to do the impossible to help them. We helped and I have never regretted it. I remember all those who helped me, especially President Rugova and the European leaders,” said Blair.
