The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, has expressed through a press conference that despite the distant clashes between Albania and Greece, the past of the two peoples cannot be forgotten.

The minister described this as going back in time, where many events happened between the two peoples, the Greek and the Albanian, but time has shown that an individual cannot “destroy” centuries-old relations.

Asked by the journalist of Euronews Albania, Ardit Hoxha, if there will be a repetition of this situation next fall, Hasani declared that despite the events, Albania will go on the path of European integration alongside Greece.

Journalist: On the first day of the conference, Prime Minister Rama, in addition to Turkey and Italy, which he has named as strategic partners, added Greece to the list. Based on your information, is this a signal that the clashes that blocked Albania last December have died down and will not be repeated next fall?

Foreign Minister, Igli Hasani: In the history of two peoples, an individual cannot break centuries-old relations. We are at a stage where we appreciate our neighbors, Greece, Turkey and Italy. Let’s not forget how much has happened between our country and Greece. The two peoples are and will continue to be very close and without a doubt we see Albania’s European journey with the support of Greece.
