On September 2, the Assembly restarts its work, and with it the political life in the country restarts in a new season that promises to have some strong developments. Movements are expected again in the opposition camp, where the creation of a new parliamentary group by some MPs who are against Sali Berisha’s leadership in the Democratic Party (DP), but do not even agree with Lulzim Basha, is on the horizon.

With Enkelejd Alibeaj, Flutura Açka or Dashamir Shehu seen as the main figures of this political formation in the Parliament, it is expected to see how and when the new political party will materialize. Such a move is also expected from Lulzim Basha, who, after losing the trial of the DP for its official seal and emblem, has for months begun to identify himself as the leader of the Euro-Atlantic Democrats.

But that’s not all, since this autumn the largest opposition group led by Gazment Bardhi intends to advance several actions, starting with the request to remove the mandates of the two socialist MPs Olta Xhaçka and Vullnet Sinaj, but also the interpellations for the transport of waste and other topics for which he has constantly raised accusations against Socialist Party officials.

But beyond the numerous factions of the opposition, the restart of the Assembly will be done by a new speaker of the Assembly, such as Elisa Spiropali, who sat in the speaker’s chair at the end of July, after the resignation of Lindita Nikolla. In addition, the majority has also changed its parliamentary representation and direction, entrusting the group to Niko Peleshi and Taulant Balla will be in the relationship between the government and the Assembly, while Bledi Çuçi will be the deputy speaker of the Assembly.

In addition to the battle in the parliament, in these autumn months, the political parties start the electoral engines for the spring 2025 campaign, first appointing the political leaders and then starting the discussions about the candidates for deputies.
