A police operation in cooperation with the American DEA has been carried out in Rome, where 10 people have been arrested, who belonged to a criminal group dealing with the distribution of narcotics, especially cocaine.

The operation was finalized with the seizure of over 72 kg of cocaine arrived from Ecuador at the port of Civitavecchia and a marijuana plantation found inside a villa in the interior of Rome.

Furthermore, the purchase from Spain of over 50 kilograms of hashish of the “pollen” type was documented, as well as several episodes of the “wholesale” sale of narcotics, over 30 kilograms of marijuana.

The gang, with Albanians and Italians, led and carried out the distribution of narcotics in Rome, while firearms, including Kalashnikovs, were seized.

The operation, centered on Tor Bella Monaca, began at dawn on September 4. The arrest warrants were signed by the Anti-Mafia Directorate in the District of Rome, after an investigation among the local police, with the support of the Central Organized Crime Investigation Service and in cooperation with the DEA.

The gang had a significant number of “employees” who were responsible for managing the drug trade areas, also applying methods of threats and violence against those considered as rivals.

During the operation, the police seized large-caliber weapons such as shotguns and Kalashnikovs.
