The International Children’s Film Festival has opened its doors in Gjirokastra, gathering together in the stone city filmmakers, directors, creators of children’s films from the country and the world.

The 15th edition of this festival has brought the small spectator back to the cinema, watching with interest the broadcast on the big screen of about 60 films for Albanian and foreign children.

“Now it’s the 15th year, experience has shown that children always welcome the festival, now there is a kind of interest and gradually they have kindness for the animated film, it’s in a different perspective, but the cinema is still full”, said Artan Maku, organizer of the Festival.

The filmmakers present expressed appreciation for the way the international children’s film festival was organized, as well as the possibility of cooperation with Albanian creators and directors.

“To exchange opinions, to exchange all those good films and all that we have in common means that we share, why not in the future if we have the opportunity to exchange the public as well why not the children’s public come there or the public of Pristina to come here to see the films”, said Burim Haliti, director from Kosovo.

“They are professionally made films, they have a very good cinematographic quality, but above all they convey the thoughts of children, which is the most significant, above all they convey educational values for young children”, said Dhimitris Bellos, a director from Greece.

For the organizers of the festival, such events are bringing back the rich tradition of Albanian cinematography of films and productions that focus on the entertainment and education of children.
