The new academic year has started today for 20 thousand students. Medical and IT branches were the most preferred, whose quotas were exhausted in the first round. But on the other hand, others risk closure.
In the Faculty of Natural Sciences, chemistry and physics have only 5 registered, while mathematics is not in the best numbers, being with only 23 students. Environmental Science is the least popular branch at the University of Tirana, with only 2 students enrolled this year.
What stands out is the decline in the number of young people who choose branches such as Language and Literature. There are still 65 free quotas, out of 120. Geography, foreign languages, philosophy, social work and psychology still have half free quotas.
The Agricultural University has been chosen by at least 638 students this year. The most sought after branches are agribusiness management and rural tourism management.
Whereas, in the agro-food engineering branch, there is only 1 registered. Even animal husbandry and livestock product safety have only 2 registrations, while forestry engineering has 5 registered students.
