Kosovo’s chief negotiator, Besnik Bislimi, said on Thursday that he and his Serbian counterpart, Petar Petković, have not reached agreement on the path to the implementation of the agreement on the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.

Speaking after the meeting in Brussels with Petković under the mediation of the envoy of the European Union, Bislimi said that the focus of the meeting was to find a way for the full implementation of the Basic Agreement, for the normalization of relations, for which Kosovo and Serbia agreed at the beginning of 2023.

Bislimi emphasized that “no result” was reached for this.

The tripartite meeting followed the bilateral meetings that the bloc’s envoy Miroslav Lajcak held with the representatives of both countries initially, to find ways to implement the agreements reached on the way to the normalization of relations.

This was the first tripartite meeting in more than three months, since in recent meetings, Bislim and Petković had not reached agreement to meet together.

The spokesperson of the EU, Peter Stano, speaking a day before the meetings in the framework of the dialogue, had said that holding a joint meeting would depend on the will of the parties.

In the last meeting in September, Lajcak failed to convince Bislim and Petković to hold a tripartite meeting, as they had disagreements on the topics they would like to discuss.
