Government’s budget for 2025 will be 8.2 billion euros

The government expects to collect 7.5 billion euros in the state coffers and spend 8.2 billion next year. With this budget, it plans economic growth of 3.9% and further reduction of public debt.

The budget for 2025 is expected to be 7.5 billion euros, with a 14% increase compared to this year. The source of the growth is seen in the ongoing economic recovery and a plan which aims to expand incomes through the reduction of informality.

With this policy, the government predicts that economic growth will reach 3.9% during the next year.

Meanwhile, expenses will also increase by nearly 500 million euros, predetermining 8.2 billion euros in total for investments, payments and any other type of transfer. Spending for this period focuses on digitalisation, transport, national security, health, education and agriculture.

With these figures, it is expected that the deficit will reach 700 million euros, or 2.6% of the Gross Domestic Product.

In the budget document, the public debt stock is estimated to reach 13 billion euros, with a downward trajectory to 55.8%, from the 56.3% it will be this year.

The document also includes the issuance of a Eurobond worth 650 million euros, the continuation of the reconstruction process after the 2019 earthquake with 50 million euros of funding, compensation and indexation for pensioners in the amount of 50 million euros.

Also, the municipalities will receive increased attention next year, which will receive 890 million euros, while the number of employees in the administration will increase to 86,314.
