It has been 5 years since the 2019 earthquake. On November 26, the 6.4-magnitude tremors left 51 dead and collapsed or damaged hundreds of buildings.

In 5 years, dozens of construction sites were opened in the country, as the government secured a fund of about 1.1 billion euros from international partners, after calculating damages in the amount of 1 billion euros.

The Ministry of Infrastructure makes a balance, with the new facilities that have been built and handed over to the residents.

Specifically, 5,524 individual homes, 6,139 new apartments and 167 schools have been reconstructed so far.

But, referring to data from the state budget, the reconstruction process will end in 2026, while residents waiting to be relocated are treated with a rent bonus.

Even for the next two years, 50 million euros are foreseen in the budget to be spent on construction.

A number of municipalities were affected by the damage of the devastating earthquake, such as Tirana, Durrësi, Vora, Shijaku, Kurbin, Rrogozhina.
