On the 27th anniversary of the public appearance of the Kosovo Liberation Army, a memorial dedicated to this event was inaugurated today in Llaush, Drenica.

The KLA statement was read on November 28, 1997, at the funeral of the teacher Halit Geci, who was killed two days earlier.

Serbian forces had fired at the village school without any provocation.

Hundreds of citizens, former KLA soldiers, families of martyrs, war veterans and invalids participated in the inauguration ceremony, organized by the Skenderaj Municipality.

The chairman of Skenderaj, Fadil Nura, said that the appearance of the Kosovo Liberation Army, which did not tolerate injustice, took place on the most important day for the Albanian people – November 28. On November 28, 1912, the independence of Albania was declared.

Among other things, Nura expressed his joy for the inauguration of the memorial and according to him this shows the preservation of the legacy of the last war in Kosovo.

Hali Geci’s former student, Arbër Geci, said that this memorial and many others should be treated as sacred places, through which the sacrifice of the Kosovo Liberation Army is commemorated.
