The start of the new year for the children of Gështenjas village in Pogradec seems more difficult than the year they left behind. This is because from this first week of January, everyone has to walk for almost 2 km every day to follow the learning process.

The reason is the reconstruction of the village school, and for this reason, they have to attend the lesson in the village of Rëmenj.

The parents point out that if transportation is not arranged by the education office for the children, they are forced to stop taking them to school, since the lessons during the winter will take place in the afternoon.

The parents say that so far they have not been given any solution by the authorities.

There are about 100 9-year-old students who move from the school in Gështenjas to Rremenji, where they have to walk the road.

The leaders of the Local Education Office regarding this issue have stated that the law requires that the minimum distance be 2 km to provide a means of transport for children, despite the fact that this road is amortized with potholes and mud.
