Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Albana Koçiu, visited the Oncology Hospital at QSUNT (Mother Teresa University Hospital Center) this Friday to launch progress on hospital public service in collaboration with the Sheba Medical Center.
During his speech, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of everyone’s involvement in this project, adding that QSUT must meet European standards of management. Rama went on to praise the support from Israel, stating that Israel has no particular interest in Albania other than to provide support and to repay a “moral debt” to the Albanian people.
“We have a full guarantee that further motivation to increase human capacities will be based on merit and on the real needs of the hospital. On the other hand, there is assistance for certain patients who require treatment elsewhere. We know very well that some treatments can only be performed in a few countries in Europe or the world, and I am very grateful for Sheba Hospital’s commitment to treat severe cases involving children, including the involvement of QSUT doctors.
So we have reason to believe that, through this partnership, we can move forward and bring about the right changes. It is very important that everyone joins in. Our friends from Israel are not here to gain anything—neither money nor reputation, nor any other favor from Albania. They are here to support us, to give something back to the Albanian people in their field, to repay a moral debt for what the Albanian people did for the Jews during World War II,” said Prime Minister Rama.
