An Israeli journalist made a post on X claiming that the Trump administration is in negotiations with Albania to host around 100,000 residents from Gaza.

Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted immediately to the Israeli journalist, responding with a post on X where he stated that it has been a long time since he heard something so false.

Rama accompanied his response with an image of a red cross over the journalist’s post and the caption Fake News. The Prime Minister clarified that Albania cannot take on such a responsibility.

Rama’s full post:

“I haven’t heard something so false in a long time – and there’s been plenty of fake news recently! This is absolutely untrue.

I have full respect and solidarity for the people of Gaza, who have suffered greatly due to the violent Hamas regime and endured a horrific war following the tragedies of October 7.

But let me be clear: Albania has not been asked by anyone to intervene, nor can we take on such a responsibility.

We are proud of our strong friendships with Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and, of course, with the Palestinian people, whose state Albania recognized many years ago.

However, Albania is not located in the Middle East, and as a country in the heart of Europe, we cannot do more than any other European country on this matter.

Nonetheless, we express our hope and prayers that the Palestinian people will have the opportunity to live in their own state, as free people under a democratic system, and that Hamas will never again be in a position to harm Israel – or, most importantly, the Palestinians themselves,” Rama’s post reads.
