Starting from February 1, 2025, Albanian citizens traveling to Montenegro will be able to obtain the “Green Card” insurance policy for passenger vehicles at a reduced premium of 50 euros, valid for one year.
In line with the recommendations of the Joint Committee of the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA) to facilitate the free movement of vehicles, the Financial Supervisory Authority conducted consultations and coordination with the Albanian Insurance Bureau (BSHS) to implement this decision.
According to the BSHS decision, Albanian citizens can acquire the “Green Card” insurance policy with 12-month validity from the date of issuance, covering exclusively the territory of Montenegro. The insurance policy can be purchased at the border crossing points of Muriqan, Hani i Hotit, Grabom, and Vermosh.
The Green Card is an international insurance document that covers third-party liability for Albanian-registered vehicles in case of accidents while traveling outside Albania.
This facilitation measure aims to enhance cross-border economic exchanges with Montenegro.
