After more than three years since his return to the Democratic Party (PD), Sali Berisha is set to travel abroad for the first time next week for meetings with supporters and international partners.
Two official visits have been confirmed for February—first to Germany, followed by Italy.
This weekend, the Democratic Party leader is expected to travel to Berlin to attend the CDU Electoral Convention, as the CDU is PD’s sister party. To attend this meeting, Berisha had to obtain permission from SPAK, as he was due to appear before a BKH officer on February 3.
Next weekend, Berisha will travel to Rome to hold his first rally with the Albanian diaspora as part of his campaign for the May 11, 2025 elections.
However, these will not be his only international meetings. Sources indicate that Berisha will also hold additional meetings in major cities across Germany, Italy, and Greece in an effort to mobilize support for the opposition among the diaspora.
Despite his international tour, Berisha will not be able to visit the United States or the United Kingdom, as both countries have designated him as a persona non grata.
