The spokesperson for the Central Election Commission (CEC), Valmir Elezi, stated that this afternoon the counting of votes for parliamentary candidates began at municipal counting centers in Pristina, Lipjan, Obiliq, and Partesh. As for the other municipalities in Kosovo, he emphasized that all necessary preparations are being made, and the counting process is expected to start on February 12.

In a press conference, Elezi noted that this process is expected to be completed within a few days. He also highlighted that, for the first time, the counting of votes for parliamentary candidates is being conducted in municipal counting centers, with each municipality having its own designated center. Additionally, he assured that the process will be fully transparent.

Elezi also provided details on the votes from the diaspora, stating that according to preliminary data, the number of votes cast at diplomatic missions is 15,352. Furthermore, 68,712 ballot packages have been received from the diaspora via mail.

“According to preliminary data, the number of votes cast at diplomatic missions is 15,352 out of a total of 20,324. Regarding postal votes, we have received 68,712 ballot packages… It is difficult to predict how long the counting process for a single polling station will take, as it depends on several factors, including voter turnout. Stations with a higher number of voters take more time to count compared to those with lower participation… The process will be observed by political party representatives, accredited media, and non-governmental organization observers. We believe that we will be able to complete this process within a few days,” Elezi added.

He also stated that starting tomorrow, the vote-counting process for parliamentary candidates is expected to begin in other municipalities at their respective municipal counting centers.
