Former U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that he is considering a wide range of countries where the displaced population of Gaza could be relocated due to the ongoing war with Israel.

“We have other countries that want to be involved in this initiative,” Trump said during a press conference from the Oval Office.

When asked by a journalist whether Albania was among these countries, Trump responded: “Yes, of course.”

His statement comes despite Albanian authorities having ruled out such a possibility.

To date, Albania has hosted Afghan refugees who fled their country following the withdrawal of U.S. troops in 2020, as well as members and dissidents of the Iranian opposition, who are contested by the regime in their homeland.

A few days ago, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama stated that reports claiming 100,000 Palestinians would be arriving in the country were mere fabrications.

Responding directly to his followers on social media, the head of government dismissed the rumors as originating from what he called the “swamp” of the opposition.

Rama also reiterated that Albania has recognized the State of Palestine and emphasized that “from the heart of Europe, we cannot do more than any other European country regarding such an issue.”
