The increase in prices slowed down in January, with inflation dropping to 1.9%. However, food and beverages did not follow this trend and were sold at high prices in the market.
Inflation in January decreased to 1.9%, from 2.1% in December.
Even at the beginning of this year, a range of food products, such as meat and dairy, as well as beverages and furniture, recorded an inflation rate higher than the average.
Meanwhile, prices in the transport sector, including vehicle repairs and purchases, reflected a negative rate.
Compared to January 2024, inflation has significantly decreased from 3.4% to 1.9%, also influenced by price stability in Europe, from where we import large quantities of goods.
In our country, this stability is not perceived equally by consumers, as data show that 40% of household income is spent solely on food. And when other monthly expenses are added, savings at the end of the month are negligible.
