Prime Minister Edi Rama has opposed the initiative of SPAK and the General Prosecutor’s Office to establish structures that will monitor the electoral campaign for electoral crimes. Rama stated on Thursday that the justice system cannot supervise political parties during the electoral process.
The government will give between 100 to 200 euros to pensioners starting from March 1. This is the second bonus that the government will give following one in December. However, opposition politicians claim this bonus is as an attempt by the government to influence the elections in May.
Albania continues to receive foreign visitors even during the winter months. According to the latest data from the Institute of Statistics in December 2024, the number of tourists increased by about 20% compared to the previous year. Specifically, 72 thousand foreign visitors chose to vacation in Albanian cities during December up from about 60 thousand in 2023.
After the news published in the German newspaper Bild that the US may withdraw military troops from Kosovo, NATO officials have stated to the media in Pristina that the KFOR peacekeeping mission will carry out its mission as part of the UN resolution and will continue to contribute to peace and security in the region. KFOR has a total of 4,443 troops in Kosovo, of which 572 are from the US army.
