Municipalities across the country issued 317 building permits in the last quarter of 2024, with one-third of them planned for development in Tirana, reflecting a rising demand for apartment buildings and residential complexes.
According to data from the Institute of Statistics, this figure represents a 5% increase compared to the previous quarter when 303 permits were granted nationwide.
Out of the total permits issued:
- Tirana accounted for 114 permits, covering an area of 350,000 square meters.
- Durrës followed with 76 permits, while Elbasan ranked third with 28 permits.
- The regions with the fewest building permits were Kukës, with only 1 permit, and Dibër and Berat, each with 6 permits.
Despite the increase in the number of permits for new developments, the total cost of these projects is estimated at 25.8 billion lek, down from 33.3 billion lek in the previous quarter. This suggests that the latest projects cover a smaller surface area, with 70% of the permits dedicated to residential buildings.
